Day 29/30 - Ladbrokes $10 MTT

Filed under: Poker Challenge — admin at 4:53 pm on Thursday, June 28, 2007

I thought i would post a quick update. Although i only have $60 on ladbrokes poker site i thought it would enter a $10 Multi-table Tournament, and surprisingly i cashed in the tournament. There were 55 entrants and i managed to scrape into a paying position, and make a small profit. I don’t want to reveal my exact finishing position, as this would give away my Username thus potentially making me a target for all the sharks reading this blog.

With my winning’s i am thinking of re-investing it into a few heads up sit and go’s, with my remaining bankroll over at ladbrokes. Ideally i will get to a few hundred and then cash out, and search for a few more poker sites with more traffic and larger tournaments, i think i may be ready to enter some larger field tournaments.

Day 26/27/28

Filed under: Poker Challenge — admin at 12:47 pm on Sunday, June 24, 2007

As stated in my last post, i started playing Multi-Table Tournaments, which i have really grown a liking for. Sit and go tournaments got boring for me after a while, they seem repetitive and although i try mixing my play up as much as possible i still managed to get bored, maybe this will change once i play higher stakes? What i love about larger tournaments is that there is a lot of weak players, and by flagging these weaker players you can give yourself a significant advantage over the rest of the field.

I have had mild success this week, i entered a couple of freerolls (free poker tournaments) on carbon poker you may think why im playing freerolls when i have a fairly large bankroll? Well these give me experience playing against large numbers of opponents a lot of them being very weak, and it is never a bad thing to play weak opponents as it can help you when you meet them at a “real money” table. Another great thing about freerolls is that often very weak players “cash” in them, as luck plays a large part in free money tournaments with large fields. So you can “tag” this player at carbon poker and then when you meet them next, you will know they are a poor player and use this to your advantage.

I finished around 120th in the first 1000 man freeroll i took part in. I played for nearly a couple of hours in the event, but got unlucky with a coin flip, resulting in me being knocked out. I believe i had pocket 10’s against jack-king, with a king revealed on the turn. Later i tried a couple of small $5.50 multi-table tournaments which had around 25 entrants. I came third in one for around $30, and failed to cash in the other. So i ended up around $19 up on my investment.

Day 25 - Small Loss

Filed under: Poker Challenge — admin at 7:47 am on Friday, June 15, 2007

Recently as i stated in my last post, i decided to play some multi-table tournaments. I haven’t been profitable this week, but have improved my strategy a bit. As everyone knows when starting out poker isn’t always about winning, making the correct decision’s will not make you win in the short term, but over a longer period of time making the “right” decisions, will mean you are a profitable player. I decided to play at ladbrokes this time as i really like there fast paced software, and they have a nice selection of MMT’s, ideal for players new to tournaments like me.

I started playing there $2000 gauranteed $3 rebuy. I really like the structure of this, 10 minute blinds and the option to “add-on” after an hour. There is usually around 300 participants, but i suppose this is higher on weekends. Anyway long story short, i did a re-buy 3 time’s and got knocked out after around one and a half hours, a little disappointing but thats poker. I may enter this again today if you play at ladbrokes email me your “alias” and i will email you mine, obviously i don’t want mine public knowledge. admin@pokermunch.com - Email address.

Day 24 General Update

Filed under: Poker Challenge — admin at 8:16 am on Monday, June 11, 2007

Sorry for not posting recently, i have had some pretty serious reasons why i couldn’t post, and really haven’t been able to play much recently. Although i did play for 3 hours last night, and managed to win a few $$, increasing the size of my bankroll. I it the $10 heads up sit and go tournaments, and won 3 in a row, netting me a profit of $27 and then lost one, which took my profit down to $16. Later i moved to some No-Limit holdem cash games which i played the 25cent/50cent tables for a few hours i hovered around the same level with no really good hands. I got trips a couple of times whilst on the cash games, but didn’t really get “paid”.

I will try and update again in a couple of days, and will play some MTT tournaments tonight. If you want to join me please email me at admin@pokermunch.com with your username on carbon poker, and i will give you my username.
