Day 6

Filed under: Poker Challenge — admin at 5:50 pm on Tuesday, April 17, 2007

Not much to report today really, only managed to play a couple of $5 sit and go tournaments whilst playing a 25cent-50cent cash game. Might try and get a few hands in tonight, but dont really want to risk playing while I’m tired, I would hate to
jeopardise my bankroll. I felt a bit rough earlier whilst playing thats why i decided to quit for the day, i finished around $2 up. A profit nevertheless.

Day 5

Filed under: Poker Challenge — admin at 1:22 pm on Sunday, April 15, 2007

Today started better then yesterday, started with the 25cent-50cent tables on Ladbrokes after an hour i was up a modest $10, so i left the table with around $60. I always buy-in the maximum amount, surely its a disadvantage buying in anything less. With the maximum amount at the table you have the chance to make more money with premium hands. Also i like to “read” someone who enters the table, and normally i notice people who buy-in the minimum are normally looking for a “quick” double through.

Shortly after this cash game i played a few $10 heads up, i won 2 of these and lost the final game i played. This game me another healthy profit, and made me realize how much money there is to be made from heads up sit and go tournaments.

After this confidence boost i decided to play in a $3 rebuy tournament, obviously i can afford to play larger limits then this but i wanted to try and improve my Rebuy strategy, which will hopefully come in useful when i play the larger tournaments in a few months. I played fairly loose in the first hour and managed to end the hour with 6200 chips, with a starting stack of 2000. I used a re-buy once during the first hour, those of you who are unfirmiliar with re-buy tournaments basically they allow you to pay the entry fee again as many times as you want during the first hour and you get the amount of chips you started with back. Which means there is a lot of chips in play and this normally means skill prevails more often then a freezout tournament. You also get the chance to purchase a “add-on” which allows you to add the starting chips, 2000, to your stack at the end of the first hour. There was 120 entrants and i ended up finishing 15th which i deemed a success as this was my first re-buy tournament on Ladbrokes and sites do take time to adjust too.

Day 4 - Bad Day At The Office

Today was interesting to say the least. I started playing at the 25cent - 50cent no limit tables at Ladbrokes, which i deposited using Paypal. This was after withdrawing from Betfair, i liked Betfair but the traffic wasn’t as good as i was expecting, and i like to be able to play any limit at all hours, the cashout was excellent and i had the funds hit my paypal account after around 3 hours!

> Dealing Hole Cards(Ah Qh )
> MrGeir folded
> biggie84 called for $0.50
> xdieseldogx folded
> Gungadok called for $0.25
> ME bet for $1.50
> biggie84 called for $2
> Gungadok called for $1.50
> Dealing the Flop(10c Ac Ad )
> Gungadok checked
> ME checked
> biggie84 checked
> Dealing the turn(Kc )
> Gungadok bet for $2.00
> ME raised for $6.00
> biggie84 folded
> Gungadok raised for $12
> ME called for $6
> Dealing the river(Js )
> Gungadok bet for $4
> stonald36 called for $4
> Gungadok shows a Full House, Tens full of Aces
(10c 10h 10s Ac Ad )

So not really the start i had hoped for. Then i decided to play a few $10 Sit and go’s, i finished second in the first, then finished 6th and 5th in the next two. In my opinion its better finishing 10th then finishing 4th, both of these positions don’t pay, so why waste your time finishing 4th when you could be in another tournament?
I tend to play loose at the start of the tournaments, the blinds are low enough to allow me to see a large number of flops and i find that my play after the flop is one of my strengths.

Day 3

Well today has been quite a cool day i played at mansion some more 0.25/0.50 nl poker won around $62 more after playing for another 2 hours then I decided to cash out $50 from mansion and deposit $50 to Betfair poker room as they accept paypal which i think is completely awesome www.paypalpoker.net is where i found this out. Well anyway betfair seems to be easier to win at then mansion i took down some fairly decent pots, with some good river bets. I decided to play the lowest limit possible here on Betfair because I only have $50 on there. any way after 5 hours of playing 0.05/0.10 nl there I now have $147 there that’s 97 profit!! How awesome is that saying i was playing 0.05/0.10 did play completely rubbish in a $5 buy in $500 GTD tournament but the huge win of $97 profit cheered me up quite a lot.

Day 2

Well today I have deposited $1000 to the online Mansion poker room you have probably heard of this poker room. I have actually been playing 0.25/0.50nl here and i have been playing for 3 hours now with a total profit of $166 then i started to feel myself to tilt because I lost with A/A on a ring game table and got taken out first in a $5 sit and go tournament. I decided to take a break and write this post. Mansion poker room is quite cool I have been taking a lot of players down to the ground here I found the players very loose and easy to take the cash. Although I did get riverd a few times here today but not for huge pots just for $10 pots I found this irritating but realist unlike some poker rooms.

Bankroll : $1161
